This is a long shot but does anyone want to trade a loaded KX3/PX3 kit
(everything but 2m module) for a KPA500, specifics negotiable of course!
Figured I'd ask before the pain of selling fees etc.! Thanks for looking! Rick

So I'm having the same problem as I've read in a few past posts (with no
resolution). At Approx. 40DegC I lose the signal in the speaker, the S meter
reads no signal, and the F value starts to wildly swing in the 700 range. I'm
directing my hot air at the heatsink for what that's worth. I had
I'm looking for a USB sound "dongle" that will interface with my KX3 for FT8
and similar modes. I have a SignalLink but I'm looking for a more portable
solution. Can someone recommend a current make/model that works well? Thank you.

I just bought one on eBay from "Radiohaus". It is beautiful, high quality, ball
bearings, it spins freely so the torque requirements for a stepping motor are
almost non-existant.

I'm considering purchasing an older KX3 S/N<16xx. From anything I can determine
the encoder was improved and there was a slight change to the 160 and 80 meter
filtering. Oh and the heat sink. Is that it? It appears that there have been
circuit board revs but I can't find any information on what
Not so much interested in the tuner option. Contact me off list to discuss.

Will the KX2 or 3 communicate with a TI through a properly made data cable? I

Sorry, this ended up being quite long winded! I'm currently building one from a
Russian Vacuum Variable Cap from ebay. Pure DC resistance is the biggest
challenge as I see it. Even little additional resistance just turns into
useless heat in the loop so R needs to be as low as possible. The MFJ

I have one of those MFJ telescoping whips that extends to 1/4 wave on 20 meters

I'm looking for one of those hand carried jump starter/ portable power units

This is a very simple question concerning what is considered mobile or portable

mobile. If I pull over and operate with my mobile setup I am still mobile? If I

I just bought 20' of what was supposed to be 10GA zip wire from that auction

way of 2X4 lumber? Suggestions for a reputable source of
OK a very good reality check when you look at the numbers! So I'm still trying
to figure out the usefulness of a built in tuner. Two situations come to mind:
You have no feedline and are driving a wire right out of your rig with a
counterpoise (KX3 portable operations) OR you are using it to
Ok sorry for not providing enough info! Consider this scenario: I have a
portable vertical with 4 counterpoise wires that is resonant on 20. Lets say I
want to tune the antenna up on 40. I can have a tuner right at the base of the
antenna OR I can just use a balun at the base of the antenna
In terms of efficiency, is there a substantial difference between having a
remote tuner at the feedpoint of a vertical vs having a balun at the feedpoint
and the tuner in the rig? Assume a less then 50 ft run of RG58 and at least 4
counterpoise being used in a portable situation with a
Fascinating discussion. Anybody know of any noteworthy books that cover the
