With the spate of spam messages, I'd like to humbly suggest that the
list owner switch the list to Moderated status for a time...at least,
long enough for the spammers to get tired of their messages not getting out.

That won't accomplish anything other than to make a lot more work for
the Elecraft guys. It doesn't cost the spammers the slightest
measurable bit extra ... in terms of money, time, or effort ... to send
messages to a dead end once they have the address. The only thing that

By now we all should know what SPAM is by either the header alone or
a non-sensical message link. Sometimes just the link alone with no
real message is the obvious but regardless, don't click on it do
click delete.

Exactly. Obviously, anyone who suggests changing the list to moderated
status has never been a moderator.
This only works if there are several moderators who have time to check
the messages awaiting approval throughout the day.
