Dave,
Heil has been using low output microphone elements for the past few years.
I know the information on the Heil website says to use the FP.L setting
for the K3, but that is dead WRONG! I wish Heil would fix that statement
- I have answered this question several times.

Hi All:
I have a Heil MM-4 Boom Mike that is not working into my K3. I just tested
an Elecraft MH-2 Hand mike into the front panel and it works fine.
The configuration that I am using for the MM-4 mike is FPL - with High Gain
(7) (NO BIAS). It shows no input with speech. It is switched on at th
end the
GM-5 as it is much nicer sounding.

Is anybody using a Heil Goldline with the HC-4 and 5 elements with their K3.
If so is it working well?

Hi Larry,
Yes, I have the Goldline with the HC5 element. I generally leave the switch in
the wide position. I found that using the default transmit equalization
settings on the K3 resulted in too much bass with my voice. I used the K3
transmit equalization settings to reduce the bass until I fo

Larry, yes. It is the best TX audio combination I've come across.

The goldline mic works great on the K3. If you are going to use it on the FP
connection you will need the kenwood heil adapter or roll your own. If using
the
RP mic connector you can just terminate using a 3.5mm stereo plug with mic+ on
the
tip and mic- on the sleeve. If you want to use the
Yep just get the Kenwood adapter cable and it'll plug right in and
work like a champ!

For my two HC4-equipped headsets I use very close to the same K3 settings that

John, do you mean you boost all ranges by 6 dB? Or???

I've been using the Heil Goldline GM-5 for about a year. It contains two
elements that can be toggled with a switch mounted in the lower half of the mic
body. The switch makes the HC-5 and a "broadcast" type dynamic element in the
base easily selectable. The GM-4 is the same except it conta

Bob,
Heilsound does not list much info for the Elecraft transceivers.
Use the Kenwood adapter - it will work. Kenwood and Elecraft mic
pinouts differ only in the use of pins 5 and 6 and that adapter does not
use either of those pins.

What cord do I get and where?
A visit to the Heil website didn't result in much help.

It appears that the Elecraft MD2 mics are no longer available, but yes, most

Set the K2 jumpers for the Kenwood configuration, plug in your Goldline and
give it a try. You may eventually find that you would benefit from a
