Which knob do you have?
There are two shaft diameters. The one for the original encoder is
smaller than the one for the new encoder (with a 1/4 inch shaft).
The new encoder will accept the VFO knob for the KX3, and that is what
is shipping with the new K2 Kits, but it needs 3 stacked
Looking for a VFO knob for my K2. Does someone have an extra they want to sell
me?

I mention this as a way of warning newer K2 owners that the normal K2

I do not know the serial number, but it was above 7000 for certain.
If you built your K2, you should know because you would have had to
assemble the encoder board.
If you did not build it, take the top cover off and peer between the
front panel and the control board (maybe shine a light there

They even modified a K2 knob to fit my K3 VFO B shaft. Much better than
the smaller VFO B knob!
And all my knobs have the ball bearing spinner dimples.

The first thing I tried was the finger dimple - didn't like it because I
usually tune by rotating my finger around the outside of the knob.
I ordered another stock knob -- it has a rasp-like front edge that didn't
make for comfortable tuning.

look at the article dealing with an FT900 knob on the K2. The price for the
knob was valid at the time I wrote it - but may have changed.
Just one other thought - If you only want the rubber tire, the FT900
A friend of mine has an FT900 know on his K2.
