Mike, Which knob do you have? There are two shaft diameters. The one for the original encoder is smaller than the one for the new encoder (with a 1/4 inch shaft). The new encoder will accept the VFO knob for the KX3, and that is what is shipping with the new K2 Kits, but it needs 3 stacked

If you park on your favorite frequency and yak, it may not be something you value. But if you are a ham that TUNES the bands, the 73CNC knob transforms the feel of the K2. It seems a bit much for a knob, but to bring back some of the feel of the classic receivers I've used in the past, it was

Well for the K3 either. I thought the price for the pair was totally nuts! That was up until I got to use one. Ordered a few days later with no regrets since either. Had the original all black ones. When the variety with the insert became available I replaced the all black with them.

For those owners of newer K2s, be aware that the NEW K2 encoder (those with a board soldered to the back of the encoder) has a larger shaft diameter than the older K2 encoders. I mention this as a way of warning newer K2 owners that the normal K2 knob may not fit your K2. The new encoder

I do not know the serial number, but it was above 7000 for certain. If you built your K2, you should know because you would have had to assemble the encoder board. If you did not build it, take the top cover off and peer between the front panel and the control board (maybe shine a light there

I've purchased knobs for my K2, K3, and KX3 from _www.73cnc.com_ (http://www.73cnc.com) . They even modified a K2 knob to fit my K3 VFO B shaft. Much better than the smaller VFO B knob! And all my knobs have the ball bearing spinner dimples. No connection with the company, just a happy camper.
