As you say your are a casual CW operator. Perhaps some feedback from a
nearly 100% CW operator of 50+ years would be useful too.

signal has been especially good for pulling out really weak ones on 15-6M.

Well, I'm in for a K3, and I need to pick some CW filters. I've read all
the threads, checked the graphs, and now would appreciate some
experiential reports/advice. I operate almost exclusively CW, mostly

If you're not operating under tough condx, then you don't need a cw roofing
filter - dsp alone will do a fine job.
If you're operating under truly tough condx,
I use the 1 kHz filter most of the time and the 400 for as needed, for
contesting.
In the 10m contest, I used the 1 kHz filter 90% of the time with the DSP set
to 500-600 Hz.

Hi Mark!
I use the 400Hz 8 pole for general QSOs and the 250 for contesting. I am
very happy with my choice. Good Luck.

Mark,
I second Mikes recommendation. I am using the 400hz filters in the main and
sub receiver in my K3 and it performs superbly on CW.
With these filters and using the APF filter when needed for digging out the
weak ones, the K3 is a CW operators DX dream radio.

Mark,
My opinion: select the filters that match your favorite working BW, just
like if you were buying them for a conventional transceiver.

I would opt for a 400hz filter.

Good Morning, when I initially purchased the K3 I only had SSB filters put into
the radio. Which is currently the 2.7 and 1.8. Would like to get back into CW
and I was wondering which CW filter would be good for that purpose. Any help
would be much appreciated. Thanks!! Mark KB3Z
