I picked up a set of folding amplified speakers designed for use with an
iPod (or similar) at Walgreen Drug about a year ago. They sound great
for their size, are powered by AAA batteries (or a 6 VDC wall wart - not
included), and the cost was only about $10.

inch or less diameter. Most of the ones they list are 2.4 kHz "sounders"
which you want to steer clear of unless that is what use like to listen
too. But I did see a 22mm speaker with good bandwidth.
