I went back this morning to the tracking list and the date of Dec 30th was
changed to Dec 28th. So whoever entered it went back and changed it to the
actual date. So I am guessing the wait for my Dec 31st order is likely still
much longer than I thought it was only a couple days ago.

I didn't order my kit till Jan 9th, :(
I bet kits ship out faster than factory builds. Hopefully they have been
stock piling kits while the manual was being refined. Maybe a couple
hundred will go out on the 18th!

To add to Vic's comment, the connections between the tape and the feeder
would have to be well protected against moisture and rain. Any corrosion of
these connections could result in BCI to nearby FM broadcast receivers - the
rusty bolt effect.

The 1 inch wide tape material is not likely to buckle as long as it is
kept flat and horizontal,
Lowes DIY Kobalt brand comes in 1 inch wide - I have not seen the
refills for that tape, but have not looked either. I can stretch mine
out to almost 10 feet before it drops.

Not only that, a five foot long tape measure is gonna buckle when the first
wind blows.

I don't get the appeal of tape measure material for antenna elements. Other
than its
'self-measurement' property, what's good about it? It is made of steel, which
has a
relatively high resistance, and isn't particularly durable.

I took a minute to look at the links, and I think the 6m yagi would have some
problems with droop and the elements folding, BUT Don's idea has a lot of
merit.
I think a 6m Halo's (round and square) could be very nicely done with a
tape-measure & pvc construction. Also, a Moxon beam might
Kieth,
How about a tape measure beam? I believe 6 meters would be practical.
See http://www.ccars.org/Projects/TapeYagi/index.htm for one example -
increase the size for 6 meters.

Thanks, Don. I suspected that the conf # had no predictive value.
I was misled a bit by the comment on the Order Status page that
suggested that removing the dashes would give a meaningful (to me)

I am excited to get my KX3. It will be great to have for a biz travel radio and

Can anyone explain the sequence of order numbers for KX3?
The Confirmation number is an array of 12 digits. When I look
at the conf # 2208-4537-7265 shown by Elecraft to relate
to a 12/28/11 order, I am confused since the last four digits

I decided my kit will be shipped to me on July 5th. I figure the ramp-up on
kits will take off in about a month or so and then the numbers shipped will
rapidly escalate. I'm #151 on the kit "spreadsheet" so we'll see ;-)
