I saw one of the monitors that was hooked up to a P3 at HamCom Yesterday
displaying scrolling CW on the bottom part of the screen along with the band
scan on the top of the screen.
Is this the P3 Keyboard input and data display that was mentioned earlier
as a feature coming down the pike? :)
I was told this was a test of new firmware for the P3SVGA. It seemed to
do a fine job of decoding both PSK31 and CW (they had two P3s running,
each decoding a different mode), although the signals consisted simply
of an endlessly repeated callsign. At one point Friday afternoon we had
a total
Since Eric probably isn't back home yet, and I was there helping them
with the displays, I'll answer this as best I can.
It was some new code for the P3SVGA that iwios still in test and hasn't
been released to the public as a Beta version yet. The CW, PSK and RTTY
decode is not being done in
Thanks for the update. Sounds like neat things are on the horizon!
Seeing what the the KAT500 will look like showed me how really small it is!
Almost didn't notice it above the Amp!

There are two video standards for monitors, 15 pin VGA and DVI.
I assume Elecraft will use VGA as that is the most widespread.
Anybody with a DVI only monitor will have to get an adapter.
They do make VGA video switches.
Just Google VGA video switch.

Hi John,
I am also very interested in an external monitor connection. The P3 is very
nice but it's a strain on these old eyes.
I have a second monitor on my desk where I now display the VE7CC cluster
which leads me to wonder if it would be possible to use an AB switch to
switch between the P3

We're actively designing the external monitor h/w and software fro the

Would some kind soul remind me what the status is (if any), for the

I asked this question i *think* 2 weeks ago, got no response.
@Elecraft (Eric/Wayne/Alan etc.):

Hello:
I have searched on Google, asked around, but no one seems to know.
What is the current roadmap for the P3 to be able to display to an
external monitor? Also will existing P3 customers be able to upgrade
to include this feature?
It is for me and others (based on some private email)
