This may or may not be a good idea. The impedance of RF chokes at multiple frequencies varies greatly, as anyone who has built a high power tube amplifier that covers 160-10 meters learns, sometimes the hard way. An open wire line used on several bands may present very high voltages at some

I believe Elecraft radios have an internal bleed but I still put a 470K 1/4 resistor in a PL-259 and use a coax tee on the back of the radio, antenna on one arm, resistor on the other.  I've been wary of chokes, fearing creating a parasitic machine, but I've never seen that happen.  Precip

My 80M CF Zepp has a feedline with a 2.5 mH RF choke from each side to the station ground via a 2" wide flashing copper strap. Never a problem with precipitation build up. FWIW 73 Ken Kopp - K0PP __ Elecraft mailing list Home:

This is probably drifting away from Elecraft specific topics, but a quick answer to your question is maybe yes or maybe no. The issue is what happens when one puts large RF voltages across these lossy ferrite-based chokes. In my application, it isn't an issue but it certainly can be as was

I've been looking for a pair of RFC's to bleed the static off of my parallel feedline to ground. Have a couple of resistors, but would prefer a lower resistance DC path to ground. The antenna is used for the 160 through 6 meter ham bands and general coverage receiving so having something

Wife got me the kpa100 for my k2 this Christmas. Started to put it together and found the rfc 6,7,and 8 seem to be the small size rather than the miniature the holes are spaced for. Will it hurt to install them in a slightly vertical orientation or did I get the wrong ones in the kit? I am

I just got the KX1 for Christmas from my XYL and found that L9 was supposed to be a micro sized 100 uH device. The one I have is a mini size, not micro. The board layout was for the micro as well. I contacted Elecraft and they told me that the micro size is no longer available so that is the

Kevin, Look at the Builder's resource page and Application Notes section on the Elecraft website www.elecraft.com for a diagram of how to handle parts that are larger than the holes as well as a lot of good information about soldering and other subjects. The leads should be formed under the part
