Not only when the exact same thing happens, but anytime something
strange happens, the first thing to check is the cables (including the
coax). It happens so often.
At the workbench, my 3 foot BNC to BNC cables get quite a workout from
so many plugging/unplugging cycles - there are 3 or more
Tnx for the suggestions guys. It was a cable problem. So obvious I
should have seen it right off. Forest for the trees. I use a Y cable to
feed the KPA500 & the PR6.After plugging & unplugging I just realized
the other side of the Y cable had nothing plugged in. I pulled the black
