You could add a halui pin, halui.program.reload seems to be the only pin
missing. Then it would be available no matter what gui your using.
Seems to be similar to halui.program.run in halui.cc and I assume
something is needed in task plan where ever that is.

Can anyone think of ways for an Unhome command to be issued other than
via GUI or HAL pins?

Yes, of course. I was thinking that it would trigger opening a window,
where to select a file to open. But now that I think it over, I agree
that it does not make much sens
