The BSI on-line catalogue at http://bsonline.techindex.co.uk says:
BS EN 60742:1996:
EN 60742:1995 Identical, IEC 60742:1993 Modified
so I would conclude that the EN is not identical to the IEC version.
Are you aware that 60742 is being replaced (by EN61558)?

Kevin,
You have my sympathy. I wasn't involved in the writing the CPD, but
I've kept an eye on it for a number of years now and the signs do not
look good. The CPD is a right mess and seems to be the result of

I have received a number of responses, for which I am
grateful.
As a matter of course, we must all try to act as lawyers in
pursuit of compliance. To that end, I reviewed the

He is seeking a Product Safety or EMC position here in the county.

Bryan,
There is a better source to ask about China Approvals,
simply make a phone call and you will get all
information you need. They also have CCC
implementation rules for customers at no charge and
they sell those official publications at a much better
price. Go to http://www.siemic.com/Order-
Thank you to all those who responded to my questions, both on and off-line.
No doubt about it, introducing electronic products into China is no
cakewalk.

I would expect the market for these bulbs to survive for some time. It will
be quite a while before there will be any justification to replace
incandescent bulbs for the yellow light in traffic signals.
