Dear All
But it must be understood for equipment that is intended to be left on all the
time, the fact that you have switch on transients is not relevant..
So if the argument is, well what happens in a power cut ?

I had a similar enquiry a few months ago, and came to very much the same
conclusions as the other people who have replied to you, but found that
there is a way around the problem because the international standards on
hazards labelling are only prescriptive as regards the styles and colours
Brian,
If you're talking about the EMC Directive, the following link should provide
you with guidance.

Here's a more general link that could provide you with information.

Yes, the products should have been re-tested and a new D of C raised to
reflect this.
Depending on what they are you may find that there is now a product standard
which relates to specifically that product group. In that case you should
apply this and not the generic standards i.e. 50082-1

I have had one kind gentleman offer his advice on this topic. I would be

will summarize the comments for those who answer me direct.

Hello all,
Talk to your board fab shop or get your hands on a copy of IPC-4101A
Specification for Base Materials for Rigid and Multilayer Printed Boards.
It contains detailed spec sheets for about 100 different laminates with
different UL flammability ratings.
FR4 is usually either IPC-4101/21
Or just re-test now to 61000-6-1.

Dear All,
Most boards are UL rated 105deg C and 130 deg C. These ratings may be based on
a generic temperature index based on the laminate generic temperature index
rating, also assigned by UL.
I would like to find out the overall conecensus rating of a board that is

Makes sense to me, but we are not shipping to a customer on this side of the
pond...
So the consensus is, that I write the power supply's D of C to conform to the
LVD, and cite EN 60601-1 (the standard referenced in the unit's agency
certifications and CB Report).

Hi all,
I am looking for the symbol for sharp objects. So far I have had little
success in finding it. I have an out of date edition of IEC 417 in my office
but I don't see it in there. Can someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Josh
Sirs;
Can anyone tell me when products tested to EN 50082-1:1992 and still in
production should have been retested because the 1992 standard has now been
superseded.
I assume any reports and declaration of conformity documents issued for
products declaring conformity with EN 50082-1:1992 are now
EN 50082-1:1992 was superseded by EN 50082-1:1997 on July 1, 2001.
EN 50082-1:1997 will be superseded by EN 61000-6-1:2001 on July 1, 2004.

EN50082-1:1992 was withdrawn on 1 July 2001. Products tested to that
standard should have been re-tested to the :1997 version which will in turn
be withdrawn on 1 July 2004 and superceded by EN61000-6-1:2001.
You are correct that any DoCs referring to EN50082-1:1992 are not valid.

Good point, Steve. Minor adjustment in the procedure takes care of it.
Thanks for the comment.

If a customer in the European Economic Area who purchased a product before CE

to CE mark that product before returning it to the customer?
