Hi Charles,
To clarify my comment (which in retrospect is not at all clear!) - what I meant
was you can't simply monitor link up status and extrapolate performance of
the interface based just on this. Software response time and the criteria by
which link up is decided are too variable in my
Sorry to jump in on this so late but I've been on vacation.
Our Conducted Emissions setup includes an AR Programmable Switch between the
LISN and receiver. We also use a 10db attenuator on the input to the Receiver.
The AR Switch defaults the input to the receiver as OPEN. So while we are
Happy New Year to all of you and I hope that this new year finds itself to be

And embarking into the new year, I will be looking into ways to improve my

Sharepoint is a good solution, so long as the servers on the back-end have a
robust backup system. In the last couple of years I went through some
difficulty in proving this was true for my ISO 17025 lab certification efforts.
The problem I found was the I.T. department policies, or rather
This is just a short note to let all my friends on the EMC-PSTC list

my decision, and soon I'll be no more than a puff of smoke on the
horizon.
It may sound overly sentimental, but the people on the EMC-PSTC list

Hope you enjoy your retirement! I am starting to see that light at the end
of the tunnel for myself (more than a year off at the earliest). I just
hope it's not an oncoming train.

Hi Ed,
I wish you the best of luck and hope you enjoy the new freedom. It's been a
real pleasure having you as an active participant on EMC-PSTC and certainly
hope to see you back on occasion. If you have any aspirations to go into

All,
With some folks retiring and others I know are changing careers (recently
termed “retooling”), I had some pensive thoughts about losing many folks who
are experts in the field or those with great wisdom. So it occurs to me, I

Well... I'm retired too -- and in a bit I'll drive over to Belcan to
see if a rumored contract has made it out of a customer's office yet.
Why quit when you're having fun and getting PAID for it?
Bear in mind that I'm typing from my Amateur Radio operating position

Hi Ed,
Best wishes from this end for you and your family. We will miss your
posts.
I am one of those that will likely keep doing engineering stuff
until I drop. Been doing this since age 10 for 54 years now. I

When at a small company, I once built a couple of LISNs and used
anti-parallel, standard recovery 1A diodes attached across BNC output.
(after blasting the attenuator on an HP8591 on a transient on day) Never
had another failure after adding the diodes.

Beware of retirement 'creep' - typically originates from spouse. Stay well.
