Sorry, I don't have the 'immediate solution' at hand. But I do know if you read on the Ubuntu web site, especially about the customization of Grub, you can do it. With Grub you can have it 1) display a menu of what to boot 2) time out with a 'default system' after some number of seconds 3)

I want to say I'm sorry for some slight approach to my sending question to individuals instead of the users list. what actually went wrong was that I did not realise that when a reply comes to my email box, in replying back that I have to delete the individuals email address in my reply to box
