I tried changing the h.halt_in pin but the same happened.
Here is what i get when i try to load the component with halcmd in the console.
halcmd: loadusr /home/torno/Escritorio/halt
:1: execv(/home/torno/Escritorio/halt) failed

Michal, the python script is executable.
I really don't know where the problem is, when i tried the same script in my
laptop a couple of months ago it worked ok, it's really strange.. i'll try
again in my laptop to compare.

What happens (what error message do you get) when you type the same
command at the terminal window shell, instead of running it from a hal
script or the halcmd prompt?

Hello again,
Well at last the script (same) worked, i don't know why, i only created a
new plain text file, and put the script in it, and worked.
Could be an error with the tabulations or something, but i don't know much
about python.
Anyway, thanks for your help and concern.

By the way, is it possible to use the regular C libraries like stdio.h to
compile rtai modules with comp? i mean, to replace the using of python
userspace components.

With Linux, problems with files not executing are either ownership or
privilege related. Before you created the new text file did you do
an "ls -alF" on the file? Typically, you will see a 755 or
-rwxr-xr-x for the privileges and if the executable file is your own,
you'll see your owner accou
Mark, didn't do that with the file, but i'll read more about the matter,
since i'm not an expert with linux.

What had me thinking in that direction is that you created a
new file, dumped your code into it, and now it works. That takes
away problems with the Python software and other things, and tends to
point towards the original file.

Yes, i thought that too, i did that because i had the script saved in an
email, because one of the guys helped me to create it... so the script was
always the same, so i thought that the problem could be in the file itself,
or in the sintax of the python script due to spaces or copying problems.

Thank everyone for the advice.
Following the advice, I added a larger pullup but that did not change the
behavior. I also switched the E-Stop button from making a connection to
ground to breaking a connection from ground. That also did not change the
behavior.
