eliminate usb devices what are do you use for mice and key boards? I
understand ps/2 if you are using an OLD machine, im running a 5 yr old dell
optiplex 640 dual core 2.8 ghz 2 gig ram and only an rs232 besides the
parport. So can
I use USB mice and keyboards on my LinuxCNC machine, it works fine. USB
doesn't work for hooking up the motion control hardware itself, but it works
fine for everything else.
RS232 is not well suited for motion control hardware. The parallel port is
much better.

if you're not having latency problems.. I would not worry about it :)
I only had 1 computer that would cause latency issues only when a usb
memory stick was plugged in. This was an old compaq 800ishMHZ pentium

giving my current keyboard an estimate of 6 months it likes to jump off the

We use USB keyboard and trackball, as well as USB interface to control
panel switches and touchscreen. No problems so far, but we avoid
plugging in flash drives while running a program.
