Sanyo-Denki specifies their own PBFM-U6 USB to RS485 converter for the setup
connection to their motor drivers. Of course it's hideously expensive, if you
can find one. The setup software is Windows only and isn't used other than for
setting some parameters in the drive.

Hmmm, seems like I calculated something wrong. With the belts set for 2720
nominal RPM, and I call for 1000 RPM, that is 37% of nominal speed, and the
motor would be r

Hi Charles,
Thanks.
I installed both the smbclient and cifs-utils.
I was then able to mount my XP shared directory and access the network files
with "GUI goodness" in AXIS.
I appreciate the assistance.

BP was pushing the edge with the 4200 rpm top speed. When you look up bearing
specs most consider 4000 rpm max continuous under load. If your head is truely
that noisy then something else isn't right - cutting air that machine should
just purr with the loudest noise being the motors fan.

Hi,
I've set up a BeagleBone Black (BBB) with MachineKit for BeBoPr with a Bridge
(jumper wires straight from the BBB headers, no actual BeBoPr or bridge). I am
running the BBB headless through a wired network with the main display on a
Windows XP machine using Xming which starts xterm using

Put a stepper motor on the speed crank and have the software setup to wait for
the target speed to be reached. Like
Where to get used good servo motor with brake for Yaskawa SGDB-10VD ?
I need 0.75-1 kW, 3000 rpm (or 1500 rpm maybe), incremental encoder is
enough..
Or.. are newer motors compatible with older drives, what manufacturer
does not write in the datasheets?

1a the vari-speed drive goes from 500-4200 RPM but over 2k you can't
stand to be in the shop with it.
2 to be able to set my RPM from 175-5200 with S in g code.

Greetings,
I am a BBB newbie and trying to set it up as linuxcnc per:
http://bb-lcnc.blogspot.com/p/machinekit_16.html. Base distro is
Debian Wheezy.
My host "console" is ubuntu 12.04 LTS running as a VM in OS X.

The first motor I looked at was a 2 pole but after more looking it has
1/2 the torque of a 4 pole motor. Both of those motors are on the wrong
side of the pond for me.

I've had some second thoughts on the 2 pole motor as it has 1/2 the
torque of the 4 pole. If I gear the 4 pole 1:1 my RPM range would be 175
to 5400 and have constant HP up to 2600. The 4 pole (1750 RPM at full
load) motor has 6 lb-ft of torque at fu

I have a BP Series 1 knee mill with an Anilam 3 axis CNC conversion and
a Kwik Switch spindle on it that now runs with LinuxCNC. I have a
GS2-23PO 3hp AC drive for the spindle. I recently added a 2500 line
encoder to the spindle and can now rigid tap.

Hello,
I have made a little program which can map simple g-code programs (G0, G1,
G2, G3 movements) from a plane to a cylinder. It might be useful for someone
who has only a 3-axis-CAM software, but has an additional rotatory axis and
wants to mill around cylinders.
