I think this thread has grown in scope. I did use Halscope to look at the signals as suggested by Chris Radek and it showed a discontinuity in the encoder velocity. This led me to looking at the regularity of the index pulse which was found to be flawed. I didn't take any pictures of the Hal

I think you are a little confused with soft limits/home switches. Soft limits are in relation to your home switches (machine coordinates). They do not move with touch off. They work wonderfully. once I home ours - no matter how hard I try I cannot get the machine to hit the limit switches :)

Thanks to Gene Heskett and Chris Radek for their help. I must have picked up an electrical noise problem in the index pulse since I last checked because it's giving two unequally spaced triggers per revolution of the spindle at the moment. This, in turn, puts an unrealistic jump in the encod

This is interesting... especially since I JUST got my spindle encoder installed and got rigid tapping working. Have not had much time to play with it yet but it works. I am going to have to figure out how to get my CAM to generate the G33.1 instead of the G84 or whatever it is... Pete On Mon, S

[Emc-users] Spindle Synchronized Motion Problem

2014-09-29 Thread David Nicholls
Hello, I need some advices regarding spindle synchronized motion on LinuxCNC 2.6.3. I rebuilt the machine that drives my CNC knee mill a few days ago and I can't get the tapping sequence to work correctly. The Z axis motion waits above the hole while the spindle accelerates to speed (which I
