A work around for this (or at least a similar problem occuring with Ubuntu 10.04 and tk8.5) was incorporated in axis (v2.5 or later): http://git.linuxcnc.org/gitweb?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commit;h=e863002919cd1fc0c8395abbe29fcec14e5c1cae You can also try the shell commands directly as: $ xhost -S
