FWIW I'm using one of these webcams -
http://tinyurl.com/8uypb5 - on my little machine and its
pretty fantastic. It arrived from Hong Kong in under a week
and, while there's a short delay in motion when you're using
it at high resolution, I'm sure it would be ideal for the
pick and place kind
?
