Yes, I'm sure. Using cli is not the point, the point is that the GUI
behaves odd, does not turn off the laptop display and does not change the
monitors resolution, but gives an error in the .xsesssion-error log and
does a fade (like it tries to change things) but doesn't change anything.

You sure you have the laptop monitor off in randr when you are running 2
external monitors?
Something like 'output lvd1 --off' if I remember right.
And you can set left -of the same way so you dont have to run dupped
screens.
