I used Av mode. I used * partial metering. Did not cover the viewfinder. I
will try with two different cameras... I'm puzzled.

I shot some test shots using Tokina 28-80, Canon 28-105, Canon 28-135. I
will post results later but there was really not much difference, marginal
mostly.
MLU, Tripod, Provia 100f, 4000dpi scan.
Tokina has the advantage of 2.8. Canon 28-105 is small and cheap, 28-135

When you double the length the light has to travel you will have a two
stop loss. This means if you add a 50mm extension tube on your 50mm
lens, you would have to open up two stops. Or, your meter reading
should go from 1/60 @ F-8 to 1/60 @ F-4.
