Hmm? My 28-135 IS doesn't display any movement/stuttering in the viewfinder and I know
it's working fine, based on sharp images at very low shutter speeds. I assume you're
shooting at speeds 1-2 stops slower than the reciprocal of the chosen focal length,
right?

If you're in the Washington, DC area, stop by the Newseum in Rosslyn,
VA.

There is a display of Bill Biggart's EOS gear, camera bag, surviving
images, etc. on display. Also some (to me) new images from 9-11. Well
worth a visit.

Unless you want the faster lens, support for EX flashes and somewhat better
macro ability, consider the Canon S40, which has all the features (except as
noted) in a very compact package - almost but not quite shirt pocket size. I

Now that Canon has introduced the 1D and 4 MP cameras like the G2 and S40, is there
any hope/prospect for an "amateur" (@ $1,000) digital EOS SLR? I'd sure like something
digital to hang my EOS lenses that is more reasonably priced than the D30.

The 1D may be great for pros and those flush with cash, but will Canon ever
offer a
consumer/prosumer digital SLR (say in the 3-4 mp range) for the masses? I
seem to recall rumors about one but anyone know anything concrete?

I assume this is the non-IS version. Where did you find it? Used? I've not seen any
new ones lately and I'm looking. Or am I confused?
Thanks for any info.

The new D1 is called the D1H, I think. It's not a joke.

DEP mode on the 7 is the "three-push" type like DEP on the Elan II. DEP can
be engaged in manual AF or in ECF on the 7e

My experience is totally contrary. ECF and AF speed on my Elan 7 are extremely fast.

I'll cast another vote (No hand counts, please) for this lens. It's my
favorite landscape lens. Very sharp and light weight. I never realized how

Can someone explain how the modeling light works on the 550/420 EX flashes?
And how useful in non-studio situations is the modeling light function?
Thanks.
