Not always, it depends a lot on the item. For instance Focus Camera (which
doesn't stiff you) has the D30 on for $2238.99. On

Buy it from your local store on a gold or platinum American Express, then
get Amex to pricematch the price against a mail-order company through their
Best Price Guarantee. I do this often enough that it makes up for the
annual fee.

Couple suggestions - the 28-80 that comes with your kit is not a very good
lens. They go very very cheap at Ebay. So look for another lens. Also, Elan
II's are not much mor expensive then a Rebel.

reputable NY dealers, avoid the rest if you want to be treated fairly AND
get a good price. Cameraworld (www.cameraworld.com) of Oregon is also has a
pretty good reputation.
