Its EPUD that still handles their dialup now, Ben. I am just kinda curious if it
still workable or not, otherwise, I will go another route, another after that
and another, another route after that, if that's what I gotta do in order to
make ends meet.

The linux model of the linksys 54G router, which is nigh impossible to find at a brick-n-mortar store, runs linux and is Open to customization... there are nice normal-like GUI management packages for it from what I've seen, but you can also SSH into it and change iptables, setup OpenVPN or whatnot

how well it would work via my current connection through EFN on a dialup connection?

Also checkout "Smoothwall", which worked for me until I decided a $50
hardware router was really the easiest way to do things.

ClarkConnect is overkill for just a firewall/router. Stick with
simpler distros like Coyote, IPCop, M0n0wall, and others. Search
distrowatch.com for "firewall" for more options. A few of the
firewall specific distros even fit on a floppy and give you
reasonable performance.
That be all,

Jay,
If you wanted to get started, you might look into a distribution like
IPcop, Devil Linux, or the Linux router Project. All of which were
started with this sort of thing in mind. Some tutorials can be found
