Chris,
It wasn't the technology. That was a mixed bag. It was good for some people,
not so good for others. It was administrative I think. Like I said. I don't
remember for sure I just think that cell carriers ( I prefer Verizon) is a
better choice except for people like KBob...

Bob,
I know that when they first switched to the new MiFi devices, there
were lots of problems. Personally, I couldn't log into Gmail or
Google's chat function, at all. However, if I first connected to the UO
VPN, then it worked fine. I believe it was queuing sizes in packet

That's sad. I thought they had an unlimited plan for something like $80.00 or
so.

If you have the option for a land based connection (cable/DSL) then keep it.
Wireless to every degree SUCKS. It is only good when it works well. If wireless
is all you can get then you have my sympathy. If wireless is what you choose

So today, I had a meeting from 11:00 to 12:00. Just as the
meeting started, I got my KVMoIP to display the desired BIOS
screen on a server in California. So I pushed that window to
the back and started watching my boss's shared desktop.
I have a client out that way. I just couldn't remember how far out you were.
Stop downloading ISOs and you'll save a lot of money. (^;

Verizon's MiFi works right here AT my house. In fact, I'm using it
right now. AT&T does not have any cell towers within ten miles of here.
It is pretty expensive, though. $10/gigabyte. I just keep telling
myself it's cheaper than moving back to San Jose. (-:

We used to resell ClearWire. They were great. Something changed, I don't
remember what and now we won't.
I've been recommending Verizon. They have a hotspot thingy that works almost
all the way out by KBob's house. AT&T might have something similar. It's
close to the same price as ClearW
I on the other hand have been happily using Qwest DSL for quite a while now.

I've used Clearwire, now Clear, for over two years with no issues
whatsoever. When they did the 4G upgrade
last fall they sent me a modem, I plugged it into my router and it worked.

I use it as a semi portable network connection. Latency is usually
decent and, after the recent upgrade, bandwidth has been fairly stable.
Their support sucks. I mean it **really** sucks. I was having problems
upstream. Three to four hops upstream, and they kept having me reboot my
modem. And d
