It is similar to energy recovery/harvest from shock absorbers.
Yes, you can get some small amount of energy, but no, you don't get
enough to justify the additional component cost.
It typically adds some rolling resistance, so it isn't all "free" energy
that is harvested.

Minor correction: A 50 amp rated NEMA 14-50 would typically be a range or
welder receptacle. A clothes dryer receptacle is rated 30 amps and is a
NEMA 14-30. Before the m

There is another side to the issue besides being inconsiderate. I have been an
occasional user of Tesla SuperCharger stations. Two items to consider:
First, you need a certain amount of energy to make it to the next station, so
even if it isn't as efficient to charge slowly, you need what you

I was thinking of all the 1st gen EVs out there that can be had for a low
price. The largest problem is their cheap (wimpy) 3kW charger. Short of
tearing into the EV (loss of dealer/factory support) how can one get around
this.
There are lower cost L3 EVSE that can be bought

All the L3 EVSE I have seen in use (Blink/ccg and others) offer the charge
initiator the option of what level SOC they want end the charging at. Some
drivers set it to 100% SOC, others just go with the EVSE's default of 80%.
Each L3 EVSE's hardware and each EV's hardware operate a little differentl

All of the Chademo level 3 chargers I have used can charge the LEAF to
100%. As with level 2, charging does slow down past 80% as it approaches
100%.
2013 or earlier LEAFs have an option to limit charging to 80%. 2014 and
later LEAF models don't have the 80% limit option.
Cheers,

I imagine it is a function of the charger or charge network. I've used

Great, here we go again with another variant of the generator on the wheel
fallacy.

When did fast chargers start charging past 80% SOC to 100%? Did I miss
something?
