Please keep in mind, I'm not a Tesla owner. As I understand it, on Teslas built
before October 2020 the charging ECU (electronic control unit) is not
compatible with the CCS protocol. Apparently, a replacement unit is required. I
suspect this is something you could easily verify with Tesla if yo
Tesla switched to the CCS communication protocol due to European requirements.
Newer Teslas sold in the US speak CCS but use the NACS connector. Older Teslas
need a hardware upgrade to use newer Tesla superchargers. CCS cars, even with
an adapter, cannot use older Tesla superchargers as those do
I have been told no over air updates for Bolts except for the entertainment
center. I had to take mine in to get the 80% patch put in by a tech at the
dealer until it gets a new battery. As I understand it, several of the Bolt
fires were cars at a low state of charge. The problem is really an as
There is a Bolt recall tracker at: https://bolt.areyouscared.dev/ that allows
users to add their VIN and help track overall progress. Of course, VINs not
entered aren't being tracked. GM is not doing the recall in any order that
anyone can comprehend. Some from every year have been completed, bu
A friend of mine is bringing an older S-10 conversion back to life, and it
was setup with a clutch-less motor install. He would prefer to have a
clutch. Is anyone still making adapters? I have been out of the conversion
discussion so long I don't know where to send him.

Yes, the EV Tradin' Post is gone. I handed it off to Aaron Choate a number
of years ago and he kept it going awhile, then it got buried in spammers so
he retired it. It really would take a lot of new code and vigilance to
survive in today's internet.

I am told GM can't do over the air updates on the Bolt except to the
infotainment system, and they have never bothered to do that. Have you had
any of the recalls performed yet? My 2020 Bolt LT has not been made
eligible for the recall battery replacement or even the interim software
that limits
There is a lot of discussion of this over on the Bolt forum. One of the
threads is at:
https://www.chevybolt.org/threads/leaving-the-car-on-for-extended-period-or-
accessory-position.35412/
Basically it says sit in the passenger seat, use a stick to slightly press
the brake pedal and turn the car
The EV Album is back up. Aaron Choate of the Austin EV group has been
hosting it for a number of years. He has fixed the issue and we are back
up.

I'm looking into it. It is supposed to be alive, I didn't shut it down. It
is getting very long in the tooth technology wise, but I haven't given up on
it yet.

You would also have to upgrade the pilot signal to send a 96% duty cycle signal
so the EV would recognize 80 Amps was available. Pretty hefty wiring to power
the EVSE too.

There are a number of threads about tapping the 12 volt battery of a Chevy
Bolt for power on the ChevyBolt.Org forum. One at:

I am planning on attaching a 60 amp DC-DC charger to allow my Bolt to become
a reserve power source
