Since Linux may become more popular in the future to where nongeeks use
it I would like to suggest a slight improvement to Evolution email.
When the send/receive button gets greyed out it seems like there might
be a bug in the software when in reality it got switched to work
offline which is

So, it does make sense to have at the very least Evolution-Data-Server compiled

Sorry, but that makes no sense. The only explanation I can think of is
that the TB version wasn't actually compressed, either because you
forgot to do it or because a bug prevented it from happening.

under Fedora, and SUSE, I've not tested it under Ubuntu) and try to

I'm considering using Evolution for my aunt who let her Thunderbird POP3
mailbox corrupt itself again.
It's the second time that her inbox grows over 2 GiB (4.7 GiB this
time). When that happens, well, the mail client will be slow as molasses
and return the wrong messages (or nothing at
*If* the folder in question is mbox format, then
it will compress said folder in order to remove the deleted messages.
If
the folder is some other format it will do something else. Note that
the
Evo user interface doesn't mention compression explicitly.

and sometimes not - I've no idea why there should be that
inconsistency. It seems to me there must be a lot of people in the same
situation as myself so there has to be a simple answer - I hope! - I'm
relatively new to Linux as well as to Evo. Any help would be greatly

I've recently upgraded to CentOS 5, and my mail reader is now Evolution
2.8.0.
It's working fine, except for one really irritating bit. When I open a
new message that's long enough to require scrolling, it always starts
with the message scrolled to the bottom - forcing me to click into the
