Where did you get the code name.copy ? It doesnt work that way.
Its very simple
just write Range(a1)=name
when you use = operator, the value on the right hand side is assigned to
the variable on left side

I need to be able to insert text into
Sub New_Name()

tName = Application.InputBox(Enter New Name)
Range(A1).Value = tName
End Sub
Note, I would be CAUTIOUS of using a keyword like Name
as a variable.
Excel uses it for SO many things. It could get confusing
