Synopsis:
ISS X-Force has been monitoring the spread of the Dynamic Trojan Horse
Network (DTHN) Internet worm.
Can/would anyone give me their 2 cent on whether to have the e-mgr on the
exch piece or interscan piece in trends software
I would guess both would be idle..but if you had to pick one?
which one?
thanks
bill

I'd put it on the Interscan box. It makes much more sense to be there.

If you are talking about the version for Exch 5.5, I can tell you that I
have activate/configure it and remove it as fast... It was killing my mail
system. You normally would use that kind of product to filter what is
coming from the internet but using it inside corp make you filter all
mail
yes I see what you mean
I called tech support...and well their answer was to try and manually
reassemble the pieces...
Umm a very big disappointment for a product which is very expensive.
otherwise it seems cool..

I would not use the Interscan if you are using Interscan only for SMTP
protocol, but use the TrendMicro's IMSS product. You MAY be able to
upgrade to IMSS for free if you have Interscan with emananger. You'd
need to check with your reseller to find it out.
Check it out.
Hello!
Does anyone know how to change Exchange Services to manual from
Automatic via Command Line switches? Is it possible? I have been
looking for this answer for a while, but I have not been able to find
it.
Thanks in advance,
Brian
Yup - a few ways to do it, but it requires resource kit utilities, IIRC.
I prefer to use sc.exe from the reskit:
Sc \\machinename config msexchangeis start= demand
I think that works

Or a .REG file imported. Can't remember off the top of my head what the
numbers are to represent disabled, manual and automatic but a little
experimenting and poling will reveal them.

Hi there,
I hope someone can shine some light on this ... it's becoming a pain in the
arse !
I recently installed the latest Office 2k service pack on my XP Pro machine,
which worked fine. Unfortunately, the Outlook 2k security patch that was
installed with it (or with SP1, which is a perquisite
I have a VB app that generates an email using my MAPI profile
and sends them out automatically. Since the security update,
I get a warning message and a Yes/No prompt. If I change the
VB code that '.send's the email and mark it as (vbYes), it

Thanks for the reply. I have played with BLAT and Jmail, but the beauty of
using the MAPI client is that it stores a copy of the email in the 'sent
Items' folder. I suppose I could just blind copy the email to another
address and use that as the copy. M
