I've had multiple copies of the eventconfig folder on a server before.
To remove the extra copies, you've got to run events.exe with a switch
(can't remember which switch, but it's on TechNet).
If you've only a single copy of this folder, I'd guess that you'll have
to uninstall the Event Service
Like the rest of us, support is spotty. It's too dependent on who gets your
call.

Two options:
1. Install new exchange server (either into your existing site, or as a
new site with a connector)
2. Get the users to access mailboxes on your server (depends on
bandwidth, etc, etc)
One recommendation:
1. Get Tony Redmond's and Paul Robichaux's books on Exchange - you'll be

My exchange server went weird on me over the weekend.
I am getting lots of Dr. Watson's and error messages when I try to start

One thing to try with RPC errors is to wipe out your
Event Logs - I have seen this solve many issues with
RPC, so it may be worth a shot.
Disable the Event Log service and reboot (Exchange
won't start because of the Event Log dependancy). Log
back in and move out all your *.EVT files in

Here is the way I do it.
Follow the Q article then
Stop all exchange services. Wait (1 use overnight) the check the other
server's MTA queues (exch admin -- site -- server -- MTA pick queues
tab) for the old server and if the only think in the queues is directory
updates and/or public folders
You have to run the navupdate.exe after you make the registry changes.
