You should've ripped out SRS at the same time. Before you can go to "native
mode", you'll have to get it out. I would re-open the support ticket.
Seriously. They go hand in hand and the support tech shouldn't have walked
you through one without the other.

If you select the option in ADUC that 'Manager can update membership list' on
the group object then that selected group manager should have no issues
adding/removing folks from within Outlook using the GAL.
We do it here all the time.

In that case, it sounds to me like you may have just skipped the step of
deleting the service. If you already forced native mode, then SRS can't work
anyway. :-P
Disable it, as you wanted.
