Dumb one

I have this bozo user who is using Outlook 97. She has items in her Inbox that are in black and some that are..pink. It seems rather random to me, but what do I know. She said that she made it do that, but doesn't know how. I do not see any setting that jumps out to me on that. Any ideas?
