HTML as Default email format

I have been asked to look into setting HTML as the default email format on our Exchange 5.5 SP4 set up. 1) is this a good idea? I though I had heard somewhere that this was more prone to virus attack. 2) How do you set it if it is a good idea? Thanks in advance for any advice. Kevan
