Chuck I did this same upgrade many years ago. While we ran the Exchange ADC it's not necessary unless you want to migrate directory information from the Exchange 5.5 database to AD. If you are not worried about that then you really don't need to do it. Mike Celone Manager of Information Syste

You shouldn't have any issues after an initial upgrade, as long as everything stays Exchange 5.5. If you don't use the registry hack to force the PDC to emulate an NT4 domain, you'll need to reboot the server after the upgrade to get it's Kerberos authentication set up properly. If you don't it
