We had a couple of contacts get deleted and when the users tried to send to
them by typing the e-mail address it would come back with that error. Looks
like Outlook was using the cached value. We tried doing the name cache clear
but that did not work and the only fix I found in this was have

i had the same problem some time ago when we migrated to exchange 2007.
we had to delete the local n2k files of the users. the automatic completion
cache of outlook is stored in those files - also the old exchange dn's
