A quick question, does anyone have experience configuring software RAID v0.9 on Linux?
If so, would you please reply to me because I still got some problem to set it up

Dear all,
Someone posted a solution to samba not remounting drives when they get lost
before, and that was to get the source and install and compile that. So...
I went and downloaded the src file samba-2.0.5a-3mdk.src.rpm and ran
rpm --recompile samba-2.0.5a-3mdk.src.rpm
It put the files in /va

I just installed Mandrake 6.1 on my laptop (Compaq Prosignia 150).
Everything installed cleanly, but I can't get the sound to work.
I get an error message when I try the "aumix" program:
# aumix
aumix: error opening /dev/mixer: Success
I get a similar error when I click on the mixer icon:
I'm doing well using the HP1200/1600 filter on a new HP1120C printer.
Haven't tried 11x7, but 8.5x11 works well in color and b/w.

Twice recently my mandrake 6.1 system locked up
completely, responding to keyboard nor mouse nor telnet, to
the extent that it had to be reset. The message log for the
first of these gives an error for a kernel paging request
followed by sundry details; the second crash was not
logged. Any suggest

After installing Helios, I seem to be unable to compile GTK programs. I
didn't have this problem with Venus, nor with SuSE 6.2, which I ran for
a few days between the two Mandrake versions. I have installed just about
every development file off the CD (I had planned to include the output of

If your getting to the stage2 point that means your networking is up and running.
What you should check is the path to your redhat i386 directory on the server. The
install is very picky about how it finds that stage2 file. I had to mess with the path
a bit... I think I included a trailing "/" an

there is something about it in the pine-documentation, it has never
bothered me becouse I always have some e-mails

The problem is that I don't have mail, new or otherwise. The message is
not useful if it is always present.

1) re-install the printer (remove old /var/spool/lpd/* dirs).
2) compile the "lp" in kernel, or load the module from /etc/rc.d/rc.local

save your /etc directory. Saving some of the "/var/" stuff is good too

Hi!
On my machine ( stock Mandrake 6.1 ) kfm could not open tar archive

Does anybody experience such behavior?

Hi!
I had a problem compiling asmodem-0.6.

The name '__u32' is used in the lot of places in /usr/include/linux directory
where the type name is required ( unsigned 32-bit integer ? ),
