Hi All,
I have been using postfix for sometime now, but am definitely not an
*expert*. Anyhow, my problem is that I'm seeing more and more
'undeliverable' messages from ISPs that won't accept direct connections
from a dynamic IP (I'm on a cable modem). I'm trying to setup postfix to
relay through
an open invitation to add that to
nullmailer (if you're good at C++) on their mailing list).
Has anyone run into a similar roadblock trying to Mutt without
postfix/sendmail?
TIA,
Bill

Hi all,
I'm trying to set up the following:
1) fetchmail getting my POP mail from my ISP.
2) Using procmail to filter, and deliver into my local mailbox.
3) Using Mutt to read it
but I'll be darned if I can send mail. I think the word I'm looking
for is 'relay' (please correct me). I need to a

Does anyone here have any experience to
relate on this card and Mandrake 9.0?
Does it get detected during the install?
I'm not worried about 3D or anything fancy.

Hi all,
I would like to stop using kdm, and have my machine boot
to a shell prompt. How do I stop using a window manager login?
Also, if I do want to start a window manager from the shell,
I know it's startx. But how do I change the wm that gets
started? startx gnome? startx xfce?
TIA,
Bill.
Can anyone point me to some links to get my digital video
camera working with linux? This is one of the last of my
Windows 'hold outs'.
I expect I will need to recompile my kernel for firewire support.
Beyond that, what software are people using to get video off
of their camera, and do editing?
I tried SNF a couple of months ago as well.
Had the exact same problem. Sorry to say that I (after 2 days) gave up.
I managed to resolve the ping issue, and get client machines on the
internet, but I couldn't get FTP, SMTP, or POP to go thru the firewall.
If you're looking for a dead dog simple f

If you're sure its an essolo1 then the correct driver is:
esssolo1 (It works fine for me)
'insmod esssolo1' should do it. Not currently on my
Mandrake box so I can't verify.
Add to your rc.local to get it to install at boot.

Hey folks,
re the subject, I've tried replacing the line in /etc/inittab so that it tries to
respawn /usr/X11R6/bin/xdm but it still starts kdm.
I also tried renaming kdm and symlinking to xdm, it still starts kdm!
Can anyone give me a tip on how to get xdm going instead of kdm?
TIA,
Bill

Hah, one printing problem leads to another.
My printer has been printing garbadge for about 20 minutes now.
I've shutdown cups, shutdown the printer (several times), but each time I power it up,
it goes on printing.
(Cups didn't show the job anyway, so I'm not exactly sure what's causing the pri

xinetd-2.3.3-4mdk on my system.
I don't think there's a specific pop3 daemon.
Is anyone else experiencing problems?
I upgraded to mozilla-0.9.6-1mdk (from src.rpm), and Galeon 0.12.7-1
segfaults on start up. Tried Galeon 0.12.8-1 (both from source) with the same problems.
Mozilla appears to work fine tho.

I'm trying print a postscript file (output by Vim). When I preview in gv everthing
looks good, but when I print the last 3 lines for each page end up on a page by

lines on them??

Hi guys,
How do I connect to a specific directory on a remote host via ftp?

Normally I would go down thru the directories manually, but in this particular case

Hi all,
I successfully compiled the 2.4.5 kernel and rebooted.
Then I went into xconfig, changed 1 option and went thru the same process.
Now I get ->

It does this for all of my kernels (2.4.3).
(I have my 2.4.5 kernel
I had the same problem, and gave up.
I ended up downloading 2.4.5 and it compiled cleanly.
It took me a few trys to get everything right, but it worked
eventually.
Now, if I hadn't bbqed my system with KDE2.2alpha2
