I'm trying to install via NFS or FTP over a PCMCIA ethernet (which I know
works if I install from the HD).
If I boot PCMCIA.IMG, the module loads and tries to start the network, but
ifup fails because the file is not there.
If I boot NETWORK.IMG, I never get a chance to load PCMCIA support (which
man tar claims:
-f, --file [HOSTNAME:]F
use archive file or device F (default /dev/rmt0)
So could you just do:
tar -cvf SCOBOX:/dev/tape ??

voltage increase and decent cooling.

The only thing which cured this was putting a total of 40 MB in the
box. This sort of thing ought to be documented (hint hint Mandrake).

Hello all, first attempt to install Mandrake, although I've been
using Linux since 96.
I did an HTTP install onto a 1GB WD disk in my main machine (dual
Celeron, 64MB RAM) and it went fine. (well, didn't see my ISA bus,
but thats another story).
Wiped the disk, put it in a P5 with 32 MB RAM, lo

h each distribution, but then you have files owned by a
user who doesn't exist for that distribution - not a disaster, but confusion.
Good luck, keep trying!

On my PC Linux sees the same number of cylinders as the BIOS (which is
different from the label on the drive). Is this always the case? If so you
only need to look at the BIOS settings.

-ipaliases (it is called from within linuxconf process),
I found that internally called `ifup' script has a bug - I discovered that
$DEVICE
variable is not initialized when starting ifup for IP aliases mode (e.g.,
ifup eth0:0).
Do you know about official patches for that "behaviour
error message that cannot mount existing linux partition !
Any hints?
