Hi,
Instead of supermount, I use autofs. It works great.
Except for urpmi and rpmdrake.
Both urpmi and rpmdrake fail with similar error message about "device
automount(pid1474) not found". pid1474 is the PID of automount process.

Autofs works fine for all other programs. /dev/scd0 is automounted on
/mnt/vypal.
Is there a way to make urpmi work with autofs?

should have been looking for /mnt/burner.
Thanks, Larry! Now I can optimize my Linux for my girlfriend who
complains loudly when CDROM can't eject.

I know about lsof, but I failed to find parameters that would list these
processes.
Below is a result of /usr/sbin/lsof|grep dev (I have /dev/scd0 mounted
on /mnt/burner). There is no line about /dev/scd0 there.

Didn't you find the scandisk message "shut down your computer properly
next time to avoid this message" infuriating, because you could not shut
down Windows properly because it locked up for fourth consecutive time

I believe that you must have used Windows very little if yo
r and create a
default kdm config, but it did not help. I also tried to delete the
entire contents of /tmp, with no effect. There is no relevant
information in .xsession-errors.

Is there a utility that would list processes which keep a drive locked,
i.e which prevent unmounting ?

Maybe it doesn't help, but I suggest you take a look at
.xsession-errors
Unfortunately there is no relevant information in that file.

I had that problem on one of the 3 Mandrake 9.0 installs that I performed. If
I recall correctly the fix was very simple. As root cd to /etc/alternatives
then execute the following command:
ln -s /usr/bin/cpp-3.2 lib_cpp
Yes it helped!
Thank you very much.

/var/log/XFree86.*.log, but it only contains XFree86 related data.
Nothing about WindowMaker.
Where can I find WindowMaker console output?

Broken on a vanilla Mandrake 9.0. I agree it is not broken on an upgrade.

I have no problems whatsoever with autofs unmounting after the timeout.
My auto.master file is as below:
/mnt/etc/auto.misc --timeout=10
/net/etc/auto.net --timeout=10
That's strange. I had to delete the "equal" sign to make it work.

WindowMaker is broken in Mandrake 9.0. Someone told me that I must
create a symlink and WindowMaker will work. Which symlink is it?

Yes we have seen this as well.
On Mandrake 8.2 as well.
The manual mount clears the problem.
Absolutely.
Is there no way to make supermount work?
