So it is quite possible that my original GLIBC related problems may be
because of my bad hard drive. Everything seems to be working fine now.

I am experiencing strange glibc oddities under and
updates Mandrake 6 installation. I have about 5
updated M6 installation and this is the only one that
is depicting this behaviour. Example problems:
1. When compiling kernel make menuconfig just sits
there for hours. Highly unusual.
2. So
Yeah, now that would be great.

When I run screen as root, it says:

So I change the mode to 777 but then as a regular user
I run into trouble again:

It works fine when the system is actually running.
However the pcmcia image on floppy is bad. So people will not be able
to install M6 using PCMCIA (for net
or CDROM etc). Certain directories are just not there
and the modules are from 2.2.5 etc. etc.
The kernel is just fine. The distribution
First its not a kernel problem.

Since the pcmcia disk is bad (as bad as it can get)
you will have problems installing Mandrake 6 if you
are doing it using the PCMCIA slot. For exmaple over
a network or a PCMCIA CDROM.

I noticed that Netscape under M6 doesn't recognize
the shortcut keys like Alt+Left, Alt+Right, Alt-o,
Alt+p.
I have tried changing Windows managers but no go.
Does anybody know how to fix this problem?
Thanks.

If you are like me and have a laptop with no CDROM and
want to install M6 over a network connection or
any other PCMCIA device, then you should try the Redhat
6.0 images. Mandrake PCMCIA is broken pretty bad. I
looked at briefly in the hopes to fix it, but there is
just too much that is wrong wi
They say that this is based on RedHat, but I am having
problems that just weren't there with RedHat 6.0.
The pcmcia image is broken beyond belief. I posted the
following message to the list several days ago. I was
hoping that the problem would be resolved in a few
days. But so far the only sol
I have been trying to install Mandrake 6.0 on a few
laptops with no luck at all. Since these laptops are
thin laptops and dont have CDROMs in them, I have to
do a network install using the PCMCIA network card.
When I do this with Redhat 6.0, no problem. But with
Mandrake 6.0 the PCMCIA modules
