I did the same for my radeon. it compiled well. but it fucked my system.
there is no restore option at it is said in the readme .
even now i just use the xfree without 3d support [dri] because i canot log it
anymore with 3d support

With Mandrake 8.1 [and XFree86-4.1] all the 3D games or programs worked
fine.
After installing Mandrake 8.2, some of these applications do not work,
some of these games make my system freeze completely.
I have an ATI Radeon 68 DDR card.
By the way if i want to watch dvd, i have now to disable

on them as well? (i.e. dual boot)?
