I currently have a sony crx140 that is dying. THe place I bought it from
will offer me a panasonic/matsushita CW-7586 in exchange. Should I accept
this? The drives are both 8x4x32.

Thanks for the pointer. The problem was the cdrom* links to hd*
not to scd*. The only thing else was that the perms on the scd* needed
to allow world read so anybody could play cds. I didn't see that on
the web site, though I didn't look to closely.

Enter the following bo
I've had both working under red hat 6.2, just switch to Mandrake and
there not working. But I believe it can be done. :->
What I was thinking of looking at was kernel parameters for the scsi over ide
stuff that cdrecord and other software wants.

You're right it doesn't make sense. I have an IDE CD and IDE CDRW both at
home and at work

Is is possible to have both an IDE CD rom and a IDE CDRW working
together?? Several places I've looked seem to indicate that I need to
remove the regular CD rom. This doesn't seem to make any sense.
