Thank's a lot to Charles and Lars. Well, finally I could read from the tape. Charles, it was the rewind question. I can access file by file doing a simple cat /dev/nst0 > file.tar and after work with it. The problem is that the information is stored in a lot of files with index etc and well

I learned this trick from an old UNIX guru: Run dd if=/dev/tape of=/tmp/tape.out count=64 (replace /dev/tape with what ever your tape device name is) ('count' and 'bs' (blocksize) could vary depending on how much data you want to pull off the tape) the run 'file /tmp/tape.out' this will let y
