Do you have the autofs or the amd running (sometimes they are a pain in
the neck)? Maybe they are mounting the drive when you insert it. Also, is
you cdrw running with scsi emulation? Maybe you need to use another device
file other than hd*, maybe a sr0 or something. If your cd is scsi,
was changed recently to remove the 1024 cylinder
restriction, making this unnecessary.

I have a 20 gig Maxtor hard drive installed in my pc. The BIOS does not
recognize the full capacity of the drive so I am using their release of
EZ-Drive called MaxBlast. Naturally, Windows works fine. I have Partition
Magic 5.0 Pro and have partitioned the drive for FAT32 and also
I have been trying to install Mandrake 7.0, but it aborts in the second
stage.
A search of the list came up with the alternate screens accessed with
Ctrl-Alt-F3 and -F4, but the information they show doesn't mean much to
me.
The Ctrl-Alt-F3 screen ends with:
* method selection completed
* state
Burn a new CD, or buy one?
You should be able to copy the existing CD to your HD and change the
file name name and re-burn it, at least I think it would work.
This will work a lot better if you can burn it from Linux 'cause
Windows tries to "smart" about short file names for compatibility with
