My system running Mandrake 7.0 , init 5, hangs with the following
repetitive message :
hda: interrupt lost
hda: interrupt lost
hda: interrupt lost
hda: interrupt lost
.
.
.
.
Any ideas why this might be happening ?

Have you enabled hdparm stuff for your IDE chain? If so,
try turning it off.

Try turning off DMA access for that drive...
