I had the same thing happen, wasn't KDE but Gnome. I think it was after a
reboot. All icons on the desktop were gone.

I went to launch a program tonight, and was startled to see all of the
icons for the different groups in KDE are gone - replaced with KDE's default
question mark icon. The same goes for most applications.
Any ideas on what might have caused this? Also, any ideas on how to get
Oh, stupid me. I found the problem. I was trying to get Corel Photo-Paint 9
to install, and PP9 includes menu-2.1.5rpm, straight from Corel Linux/debian.
Normally this wouldn't pose a problem, but since Mandrake was smart, and
reused debian code for their menu management system, the PP9 code
