Hi,
I've a problem with the APM standby mode on Mandrake 9.1...
With the new 2.4.22-9mm-kernel ACPI doesn't work on my machine (HP A872, Via Apollo
Pro)
so I decided to use APM...
So far so good, I compiled new without ACPI but with APM, and APM stan
I have a laptop with mandrake 9.0 2.4.19-16mdk installed. I have been
noticing that although I have APM support, my batteries lose their

I am using mdk9 and a MSI (ms-6378) motherboard with a tv tunercard,
dvd, etc. to create my own set-top box. (Custom case and everything -

My problem is that when I try to put the machine into standby using 'apm

The apm-scripts-0.1-3mdk package contains various scripts to be run on

I have worked on getting the X display to lock automatically when I
use APM on my laptop. I used the standard scripts provided by the
package apm-scripts.
I run KDE and the locking is thus governed by the following part of
the shell-script:
w |tail +3 |awk '{print $1, $3}'|grep -v '-'|g
Can someone please help me with the Advanced Power Management as
implemented in LM8? I can't find any documentation on this.
I want to control my monitor "sleep" and "off" timings, and spin down the
hard drive after a period of idleness.
I know that KDE has a "Energy" item. I don't use KDE at al

Or better yet, use something other than S or K as first character
S(tart) is for Starting the daemon, and K(ill) for stopping it.
